A Covid Summer in Sheffield

Summertime for a student isn’t all slack off and kickback. This year more than most it is harder to get through Summer, so we are here to help. Here are some things a Sheffield student can get up to either raise more money, save money, have fun, or catch up on studies.

Make Money

Getting a second part-time job over the summer months is a great idea, though there are not that many. I suggest looking for services you can offer, can you help with tuition for kids? You can tutor over video.

Busking could be another option. Check local councils for rules first before you just setup and play. We are desperate to hear live music again, so this could pay dividends if allowed.

Streaming on Twitch, can bring in a tidy sum if you are a fair accomplished gamer, my roommate made over £150 in a couple of weeks

Taking surveys is one way to earn a little cash on the side, SwagBucks and Lifepoints come highly rated and payout in real money via PayPal or Amazon Vouchers

Save Money

Saving money this year is different, I would have said doing things like stewarding at festivals, so you can save on ticket entry. This year with hardly any festivals, we need to think outside the box!

Check out student Finance, there have been a few changes to grants and loans, so remember to check everything is in place for the new term

Take advantage of the Governments Eat out to help out scheme, where you get up to 50% or £10 off your meal at participating restaurants.

If you are not already registered with StudentBeans.com then you are missing out! Totum has a lot of deals, however, Studentbeans is free to join and has loads more.

Pop Honey on your browser to save even more, as it automatically searches for a coupon, or discount.

Have fun

Festival of Debate aims to kindle conversations that might help to shift some clouds from around big issues, and clear paths towards answers to questions that can sometimes seem too big to ask.

Sheffield Escape room is open and is a great place to test your cerebral muscles! Grab a group of housemates and book a session

One thing I didn’t think I’d enjoy as much as I did! Ringinglow Archery is open and ready for you to try out Archery or even Axe throwing!

If you just wanna get the chills Zombie Infection is open and ready for some deathly action!

Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre has finally opened again and has timed tickets. Although animal encounters are suspended for now.

Catch-up on Studies
