Ecclesall Road, or, as the locals call it, Eccy Road, is one of the more popular areas for student housing in Sheffield. This is definitely to do with the variety of shops, bars, restaurants, and pubs. Plus, it is close to Sheffield Hallam's Collegiate campus, and not at all far from the University of Sheffield.
Ecclesall Road has always been and still is a thriving part of the city. The great range of cafes, restaurants, and popular student bars means you can have a different night out every day of the week without going to the same place twice. The range of restaurants is extensive, including Thai, Italian, American, Moroccan, French...we could go on! Worth a mention for students would be The Nursery Tavern (or 'Tav'), Champs sports bar, The Lescar for the stand-up comedy and the Sheaf Island Spoons.
There are a variety of different shops too, ranging from little boutiques, to charity shops and more specialist indie and vintage shops. Just behind Eccy Road is Hunters Bar (of Arctic Monkeys fame), which also has some cool pubs and independent shops.
The abundance of students and young people living in the area means there is a buzz, unrivaled anywhere else in the city. It has a personality of its own and makes for a fantastic place to live if you are a student in Sheffield.
As for outdoor space, Eccy Road benefits from the beautiful Endcliffe Park and the Botanical Gardens just behind it. Perfect for walking round, running through, or sitting in with a picnic! The Peak District is only a short bus ride away too, if you fancy some breathtaking scenery a bit more of a challenge.
There are plenty of bus routes running the length of the road and it's a 15 minute walk into the city centre. The Sheffield Hallam University Collegiate Campus stretches down to Ecclesall Road and you are only a five minute walk away from the University of Sheffield's main campus as well.
