Ecclesall Road, or, as the locals call it, Eccy Road, is one of the more popular areas for student housing in Sheffield. This is definitely to do with the variety of shops, bars, restaurants, and pubs. Plus, it is close to Sheffield Hallam's Collegiate campus, and not at all far from the University of Sheffield.
Reasons to Love Ecclesall Road
Eccesall Road has always been, and still, is a thriving part of the city. The huge range of cafes, restaurants, and popular bars means you can have a different night out every day of the week and not go to the same places twice. The range of restaurants almost beats London Road for variety. There is Thai, Italian, American, Moroccan, French...we could go on! Plus, Ecclesall Road is home to the famous Nonna's, Sheffield's best independent Italian (in our opinion!)
There are a variety of different shops too, ranging from little boutiques, to charity shops, and more specialised shops. Just behind Eccy Road is Hunters Bar (of Arctic Monkeys fame), which also has come cool pubs, and independent shops.
The abundance of students and the fact many permanent residents live in the area means there is a buzz that isn't rivaled anywhere else in the city. It has a personality of its own, and makes for a fantastic place to live if you are a student in Sheffield.
As for outdoor space, Eccy Road benefits from the beautiful Endcliffe Park right in the middle of it, and the Botanical Gardens just behind it. Perfect for walking round, running through, or sitting in the middle of with a picnic! The Peaks is only a short bus ride away too, if you fancied a bit more of a challenge.
There are loads of buses running the length of the road and it's a 15 minute walk into the city centre. The Sheffield Hallam University Collegiate Campus stretches down to Eccesall Road and you are only a five minute walk away from the University of Sheffield's main campus as well.
